Cherrywood Orchard
We have a young Avocardo Orchard with approxamently 1000 producing trees. 900 of these are hass and the other is Lamb hass.
Although we are not an organic orchard we endeavour to use natural fertilizer and sprays as much as possible. We do not use pesicides an the trees and rely on natures good bugs to overcome the bad bugs.
Our water supply is clean and we try to use it judiciously and try not to over water.
Many times we have had feed back regarding the flavour of our fruit.
All picking and packing is handled by family and in 2003 we became accredited with Freshcare Australia.
Our picking season is from August throught to when we have finished picking all the tress. We send most of our fruit to the Brisbane markets to be sold.
Besides avocados we have a range of other fruit trees for our own consumption. They include Washington Navel oranges, R2E2 Mangoes, Apples, Pears, Lemonades, passionfruit and stone fruit.
We have also experimented with growing coffee trees. They are only small bushes at the moment but are doing well and are producing a nice crop for our own use at the moment.
Nothing like the smell of fresh home roasted coffee.
Many visitors are amazed to see Coffee and Apples trees growing sideby side.
Such is the climate of Cherry Creek.
