Our first purebred was the mare Aratula Salena - Salena was bought to start our breeding program. She came to us as a unbroken 6yr old. We had her broken to saddle. Lovely mare to ride. Later she was put in foal to Findhorn lochinvar. She produced a stunning colt in M.L.Barak. She has produced some lovely foals for us and she is still with us today.
(She is a half sister to Duchess, by Bremervale Royal Sparkle out of the mare Zena.)
Our next Purebred mare was the lovely mare Pine Park Penthesilea. She came to us as Melissa's ridding horse. Penny as we called her competed in the open galloway rings with great success. They were just about unbeaten in Lady rider sidesaddle at the local show around the area. She was the lady of the family, very dainty. didn't like to get dirty or push her way through the scrub out on trail rides. Her style was the show ring. Sadly she was loss to an accident while heavy in foal to Findhorn Lochinvar. Was a great loss of such a caring, loving mare and her unborn foal.
The next pureberd was the purchased a half brother to Salena in Aratula Malek El Jabel. A lovely bay weanling colt. Who was later to become one of our stud stallions.
Malek or 'Chook' as he was known by us was shown as a youngester. He had a great temperament with people and kids. He produced a few foals for us. He was gelded at the age of 10yrs old after a bit of a rest he was then broken in and sold on. He has been doing well in endurance with his new owner.
Then there was the purchase of the purebred stallion Findhorn Lochinvar.
By Bremervale Destiny out of Oxford Felicity. What a great boy he was. Melissa and Lockie did everything, halter, ridden stallion, jumping, games etc. You name it they did it. Lockie was such a gentelman to show. Most people wouldn't even know that he was a stallion as he was so well behaved. They went to open sports days and it wouldn't be till later in the day (after lunch) that people would come and ask if Lockie was the stallion they had heard was there. Lockie was the display horse for the Brisbane Royals Horse Breeds Expo. He did displays in costume and street parades. Showing the public the great temperament of the Arabian stallions. Lochinvar is still with us today.
And well the story goes on from there.
I'll do a list of horses we have bred over the years.
More will come over the next few months, so please check back.
The story will continue!
